Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced General Accountant to manage and maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and tax obligations. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting clients with day-to-day and strategic financial decisions.
This role offers the flexibility to work from home, depending on the candidate’s experience, performance, and business needs.Bilingual (Spanish and English) communication skills are essential, as we serve a diverse client base including many Spanish-speaking individuals and businesses.Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and examine financial statements in compliance with accounting standards
Lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and income tax returns
Manage general ledger entries and reconcile bank statements
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Maintain client records and ensure compliance with ATO and ASIC requirements
Provide taxation advice and planning services to individual and business clients
Liaise with clients and government bodies as required
Support with month-end and year-end close processes
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in Australia or overseas
Strong working knowledge of MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks, or other accounting software
Understanding of Australian taxation laws, GST, and payroll
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Fluency in both Spanish and English (spoken and written)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Professional membership (e.g. CPA, IPA, CA) desirable but not essential
