Dimatec Inc. is a Canadian manufacturer of high-quality metal-bond diamond tools and related down-the-hole drilling equipment. Our products are used globally by the mineral exploration, geotechnical survey, and oil and gas industries. Dimatec Inc. is seeking an internal/external candidate to work as a General Labourer. This will be an hourly position reporting to the Production Supervisor. This position will be required to work on the Day Shift, 6:00 am to 2:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Qualifications (including but not limited to)
High school diploma with technical/academic training or equivalent.
1 - 5+ years’ experience with machinery, including band saw, drill press, and other conventional machine shop equipment or willing to learn them.
Having basic knowledge or experience in welding is considered an asset.
Blueprint reading and comprehension.
Valid driver’s license required. Prior forklift experience preferred or willing to obtain a forklift certificate.
Experience operating overhead cranes or willing to obtain certification.
Physical ability to lift/push loads of up to 50 lbs. regularly, perform repetitive tasks, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
Manual dexterity, attention to detail, and hand-eye coordination.
Equivalent experience may be evaluated in lieu of above qualifications.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
Set-up and operate saws, lathe, drill press systems, overhead crane, and forklift.
Operate zinc phosphate dip tank as per process specification.
Stamp, clean, and zinc phosphate parts as per work instructions.
Operate ECO Blast Shot Peen.
Cut, drill, and deburr parts as per work instructions.
Sharpen drill bits as required.
Hard strip and braze diamond products.
Set-up and operate product identification equipment (pin stamping and laser engraving).
Provide hands-on training/mentoring to other employees.
Maintain work area as per continuous improvement guidelines and monitor equipment as per maintenance sheets and operator checklists.
Use logbooks daily.
Report all necessary work-related information on work order packages as per quality management system requirements.
Operate grinding machine.
Other duties as assigned.
Key competencies
Familiarity with general machine shop practices.
Knowledge of measuring devices and power/hand tools and equipment used in a machine shop environment.
Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in the English language.
Ability to train/mentor junior employees in machine shop practices.
Demonstrated mathematical skills.
Soft skills
Perform duties ethically and professionally.
Perform duties in a safe manner that is compliant with Workplace Safety and Health requirements, and in accordance with company Safe Work Procedures.
