Job Description
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
AUSTRALIAN EDUCATION TEAM
PERMANENT
Young people deserve to graduate from school scientifically literate and ready to tackle tomorrow’s problems. With students set to enter a world and a workforce deeply infused with AI, their abilities to discern fact from fiction, make sense of data, and think independently are arguably more important than ever.
We’re serious about providing every kid with the best science education in the known universe. We equip teachers with everything they need — from hands-on experiments to professional learning — to deliver relevant, engaging and impactful lessons for their students. But we don’t just leave schools to it, we partner with them to continually improve their teaching and leadership practice such that evidence-based instruction becomes second nature. Read the principles behind what we do here.
We are incredibly proud that over 2,000,000 students have learnt with Stile so far, and we’re on track for that number to reach 10,000,000 by 2030.
We’re looking for a knowledgeable, driven education leader who wants to extend their impact.
The job
Lead a talented cross-functional team
This is a leadership role with P&L responsibility, managing leaders collectively responsible for marketing, sales, professional learning, customer experience and product operations. You’ll have a long leash, a budget, and a first-class team.
Help to transform teacher practice at scale
While the leadership role may sound commercial (and it is, to an extent) the heart of the job is transforming teacher practice at scale, whether through professional learning or embedding best-practice use of Stile. Revenue is simply a measure of success if we are helping to improve student outcomes across Australia.
Help us to communicate who we are and what we stand for
Great sales and marketing is simply about relationship building and effective communication. But there’s a science behind both, and a little art too. Help us to continually improve in this domain.
Be a voice in state and national policy discussions
We work with over 40% of Australian secondary schools. Our connection to the teaching community is often stronger and more meaningful than that of some state governments. It’s our responsibility to use our platform to advocate for policy decisions that we believe will be best for teachers and students (including extending beyond science education).
Partner with expert colleagues globally
Stile is part of a global organization that is laser focussed on providing students with the best education, across reading, writing, numeracy and science. This role will collaborate with our colleagues globally to learn and continually improve our practice more broadly.
Qualifications, experience, and skills
Leadership experience: You have at least five years of leadership experience, with a track record of rallying teams around clear goals. If you’re a school or education system leader fluent in pedagogy that’s a great start.
Agency: Strong work ethic, hustle, and the ability to work independently while maintaining a positive, collaborative attitude. You approach setbacks and challenges with grit and tenacity.
A thirst to learn: You don’t just know that you’ll be better off always leveling up in your own time, you do it. You do it because you love learning and being a better version of yourself week in week out.
Life at Stile
Stile is run by education nerds that get up every day with a shared drive to give to the community. We’re here to build something real and enduring.
Surrounded by like-minded awesome people. You’ll join an amazing 70-strong Australian team of teachers, scientists, artists, and engineers. You’ll make life-long friends with like-minded colleagues. Our global team is over 2,500 people strong, with offices in the US, Ireland and India.
High standards, always. If you’ve worked in a job where you’ve wanted to pull your hair out because of rampant mediocrity then you’ll love Stile. We’re completely obsessed with quality products and quality experiences. From the penning of a customer email to the clarity of a student-facing question, quality means everything to us.
Built on collaboration. We’ve invested in a beautiful office space in Melbourne’s CBD. We pride ourselves on our culture of collaboration, knowing that the most creative ideas often come from chit chat in the kitchen. Beyond that, you get to work side-by-side with our team of builders that are working at the forefront of AI-powered innovation.
Your own professional development. We’re lifelong learners here at Stile. Alongside teaching you everything you need to know to succeed in this role, you’ll get to learn from experts in their fields as well as fuel your own self-directed learning with our generous professional development allowance.
