The role
We are looking for a dependable, dedicated and flexible Laboratory Technician to join our UKAS accredited Geotechnical and Materials Team. As a member of the Laboratory, it is key that you are able to thrive in a team environment, as well as independently.
The fundamental part of the role it to determine the physical properties of a wide range of materials including soil classification, machine testing, concrete, earthworks, aggregates and bituminous mixtures to ensure compliance with specifications.
All testing will be undertaken in line with a range of British, European and American standards so a good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures is required. The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):
• Work effectively within deadlines
• Physical testing of construction materials i.e. compaction, density & strength
• Preparation of soils for laboratory testing (i.e. breaking down 20kg samples to pass a 20mm sieve
• Undertake tasks in line with company QHSE protocol
• Maintain effective internal relationships
• Good organisational skills and to maintain good levels of cleanliness within the lab

About Materials Testing
Our Lab Testing team perform an extensive range of testing and compliance services across a wide range of construction projects including highways, rail, airfields, ports and harbours, power stations, sports stadia in addition to new build projects across Industrial, Commercial and Residential properties.
