Full job description
Technology, Digital & Data @ Ampol

Technology, Digital and Data (TDD) at Ampol are dedicated to empowering our business through technology-enabled differentiation, strengthening our foundations to build sustainable value for the future. Our team thrives on the challenge of innovation—dreaming up big ideas, questioning the norm, and tackling complex problems. Together, we are shaping a future that not only meets the needs of today but anticipates the demands of tomorrow.

Our approach is anchored in data-driven decision-making and advanced technology integration, allowing us to create seamless and personalized customer experiences that truly resonate. By prioritizing value-based decisions and outcomes, we ensure that TDD drives meaningful impact and measurable outcomes for the Ampol Group, leaving a lasting impact on our business and our customers.

About the role:

Ampol’s Operations and Partnering team plays a critical role in turning Ampol’s technology strategy into real-world results. We work closely with business units to identify, prioritise, and deliver initiatives that align with our business goals—while carefully tracking the value each initiative brings to the Ampol Group.

The General Manager, Operations & Partnering will lead the Ampol Group Operations and Partnering function within Technology, Digital and Data (TDD), accountable for the strategic investment in TDD and acting as the engagement point to drive enterprise performance through technology and actively enable business growth, innovation, and performance. The role will also be accountable for the strategic oversight and resilience of IT operations across the Ampol Group (AU, NZ, Singapore and US), ensuring enterprise-wide infrastructure performance, availability, and service continuity.

You’ll take us further by:

Lead the TDD Operations team, with responsibility for operating rhythm, planning cycles, governance forums, performance tracking, and function-wide coordination
Lead the Business Partnering group that serves as the primary interface between TDD and the broader Group — ensuring business needs are understood, prioritised, and connected to the right technology capabilities
Act as the commercial front door for Technology — shaping demand, aligning scope and investment with strategic intent, and supporting informed decision-making
Provide strategic support to the EGM TDD and the TDD Leadership Team by enabling visibility of key priorities, risks, and dependencies across the function
Ensure strong alignment between TDD activities and enterprise priorities through fit-for-purpose engagement models, forums, and reporting
Bring a disciplined approach to how the function operates — embedding clarity, accountability, and focus across planning and performance
Build strength in business partnering capability, ensuring the business feels supported by TDD
Drive a commercial mindset to technology investment, assessing the overall value return from the entire investment in Tech, Data and Digital and drive the best possible outcome from this investment
You’ll bring:

Significant experience in a senior/executive operations, business partnering, or transformation role - ideally within a complex or technology-led environment.
Proven ability to design and run operating models, rhythms, and governance structures that drive business performance.
Commercial mindset focused on technology investment return, with experience supporting executive leaders to shape strategic direction and track delivery / benefits realisation
Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills across varied stakeholders from Group Executives to functional COE’s
A track record of leading through complexity, ambiguity, and change with a steady hand and a practical approach.
A passion for collaboration, team enablement, and unlocking business value through technology
Strong track record in engaging and influencing senior business leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure technology investments align with business needs, effectively managing expectations and driving consensus between business and technology
Deep understanding of cost-benefit analysis, ROI evaluation, and risk assessment
Proven ability to continuously evaluate and enhance existing systems and processes

We’ll take you further by:
