School Description: Sakku School is a K-12 school with approximately 340 students

Required qualifications:
B.Ed.
Must be eligible for Nunavut Professional Teaching Certificate
In the event that there is no successful qualified candidate, this position may be offered as a one-year term under Letter of Teaching Authority Certification.
Desired qualifications:
Subject knowledge, training, and experience relevant to the assignment
Ability to communicate in Inuktitut (verbal and written)
Experience and / or training with current assessment methods
Evidence of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
Experience and / or training in classroom management practices and the development of positive learning environments (eg. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports, etc.)
Cross-cultural and/or northern teaching experience
Evidence of training and / or experience in the area of Balanced Literacy
Training and / or teaching experience in an ESL environment
Evidence / experience building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, stakeholders
Skills / training using education-related information technology ie SMART Board Applications
Planning skills (lesson, theme, unit, year, and student support plans)
Salary: $91,171 to $142,955
The Northern Allowance for Coral Harbour, Nunavut is $23,147

Current Government of Nunavut employees must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate and must submit a current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) before appointment to the position can be finalized.

To teach in Nunavut, you must be certified in another Canadian province or territory. If you do not hold a valid Canadian teaching certificate, you must have your credentials assessed and be eligible for an initial teaching certificate in Nunavut, prior to applying for teaching positions in Nunavut.
Nunavut is excited to announce the launch of Pathways to Teach Canada. This new service is the single-entry point and the first step for internationally educated teachers interested in obtaining an initial teaching certificate in participating provinces and territories, including Nunavut.
Pathways to Teach Canada offers a streamlined process, enabling internationally educated teachers to have their credentials and language competency evaluated and sent to one or more participating provinces or territories where they want to apply for certification.

Submit your assessment request to have your credentials assessed.
Once your credentials assessment reports are available, Pathways will send them to the regulatory bodies for the teaching profession of your chosen participating provinces or territories.
On your end, once your report is available to you on the Pathways portal, you will need to start your certification application with your chosen participating provinces or territories by contacting each regulatory body directly. If you have already completed an application, we will keep it on file until we receive your credentials assessment report.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that they address the application requirements of each province/territory they are applying to. The certification decision will be made by the regulatory body for the teaching profession of each participating province or territory, who will inform you (i.e., the applicant) directly of their decision.
