A Future with purpose

At Arup we're dedicated to sustainable development and to do socially useful work that has meaning. Our purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

We solve the world's most complex problems and deliver what seems impossible. We explore challenges with curiosity and creativity - using technology, imagination and rigour to deliver remarkable outcomes.

The Opportunity

At their best, developments create shared and sustained benefits for both investors in projects or developments and the local communities and environments in which developments occur.

Arup guides development proposals at each stage of the development control and management process. We give strategic advice on proposals, manage consultation, assess impact, prepare applications for planning consent and support applications through decision-making and post-decision processes. We also provide stakeholder engagement, reporting and appeal services.

Cities are the world's engines for growth and will drive future prosperity; nearly seventy percent of the world's population will be living in them by 2030. Cities are the places which address global issues, provide the innovations of the future and fuel the global economy. Arup is at the forefront of thinking on many of the issues that will shape cities' development.

As part of Arup's Cities, Planning and Design portfolio, the Economic Planning team provides strategy, planning, and economic consulting services to a range of high-profile clients.

We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:
• An undergraduate (achieved/predicted minimum of 2:1, or equivalent) or Master's degree in economics, public policy/administration, geography, business, or a numerate discipline.

Graduate City Economics Consultant

Available location: London

The role will involve working on projects within the UK, and internationally, and require a range of quantitative and qualitative skills as well as the ability to effectively support client relationships and work as part of integrated project teams.

Our team specialises on four interrelated specialisms: urban strategy development, business case development, monitoring and evaluation and environmental economics. We use our knowledge and expertise to offer our clients a broad spectrum of consulting services.

We're looking for the following qualifications, attributes, and skills:
• An undergraduate degree in economics (achieved/predicted minimum of 2:1, or equivalent) or Master's degree in economics, public policy/administration, geography, business, or a numerate discipline where you have learnt the basics of microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics.

Is this role right for you?

We're looking for people who are curious and ready to evolve how you think and work. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective - in which we encourage individuality to thrive. If you can share your knowledge and ideas and encourage others to do the same; whilst having a desire to deliver excellent services for clients - we'd like to hear from you.

You should be able to start this opportunity in September 2025.
