As the Grant Coordinator you will be responsible for the Capital Conservation Grant (CCG) process; from grant design, selection and funding recommendation, through to grant final payments and closure; all while ensuring Administration's compliance with policy. Primary duties include:
Review applications for funding eligibility supporting lifecycle projects, against Council approved CCG policy (CSPS006). This includes lifecycle capital projects, Community Technical Advisory Support Services and requests for engineering consulting services.
Coordinate with internal parties to gather technical data; apply technical information received to determine and formulate grant funding recommendations.
Provide regular consultation, training and advice to city liaisons and community organizations on grant processes, guidelines and funding database.
Maintain relationships to provide knowledge and support both internal and external to The City, including other funding and support systems, municipally and provincially (e.g. Federation of Calgary Communities and Community Facility Enhancement Program).
Create, maintain and recommend business processes and strategic direction of grants management and monitoring; to ensure that appropriate controls are in place for effective decision making and responsible release of funds to grantees.
Monitor the status of approved grants to determine timing of reimbursements against available capital budget by fiscal year, by creating and maintaining effective tracking and reporting systems.
Create effective and professional communications with tact and diplomacy, to be shared with grantees and internal leadership.
Annual update of the grant guidelines.
Qualifications
A degree in a related field (e.g. Business Administration, Recreation etc.), and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in community development/support or grant funding administration.
At least one year of experience in the following will be considered an asset:
Experience in developing and facilitating education sessions and workshops, general understanding of engineering consulting phases and construction processes, capital asset prioritization and investments.
Experience working within a project and/or grant management cycle; including grant design, selection, contract, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint will be considered an asset.
Success in this position requires strong communication skills.
You have excellent customer service skills and are able to identify and deal with problems before they are escalated.

Workstyle: This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
