Reports to: Director of Grants and Budgets
Work Location: 151 Lawrence Street, 4th Floor, Brooklyn
Hours: Full Time - 35 hours per week
Position Summary:
The Grants Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of BCS by managing accounting and audit functions. Working closely with the Director of Grants and Budgets, this position is responsible for overseeing grant management and budgeting processes, including timely submissions of funder vouchers and providing technical assistance to administrative staff.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with the Director of Grants and Budgets to maintain accurate financial reporting and internal control systems.
Coordinates responses to funder audits and fiscal reviews with outside auditors and reviewers.
Prepares documentation for annual independent and single audits under the direction of the Director of Grants and Budgets.
Submits vouchers for payments to federal, state and city agencies.
Supports grants administration process to ensure compliance with key grant requirements.
Assists with contract registration, budget modifications and amendments, close-outs, and other required processes for contracts.
Collaborates with Staff Accountant to prepare financial documentation, including budgets and the annual Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR).
Provides support for payroll reporting and maintains an understanding of these functions for cross-training purposes.
Collects and maintains monthly, quarterly and annual reports in an organized file.
Oversees salary allocation process and assists programs with employee allocation changes.
Reviews variance reports to ensure allocation accuracy.
Provides quality assurance for program stipend and incentive programs.
Assists programs and division directors with budget and expenses analysis and forecasting.
Develops and implements the finance department's help desk to enhance efficiency.
Manages and processes centers' monthly claims and annual budget within the CACFP Information and Payment System (CIPS).
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related area of study.
One year of experience in fiscal management.
Fundamental understanding of non-profit accounting.
Ability to gather, interpret and use data to create reports.
Strong spreadsheet skills, including advanced pivot table use.
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Attention to detail required.
