Green Calgary is looking for an Education Coordinator for the Green Kids (K-6) and Generation Green (Gr 7-12) program. This role is a limited term appointment for up to 20 months covering a parental leave. The Green Kids and Generation Green Coordinator is responsible for delivering our youth education programs. Description
Since 1+78, Green Calgary has been providing Calgarians the resources they need to live more sustainably, including the award-winning Green Kids program that has run over the past 15+ years. We are currently looking for an Education Coordinator for the Green Kids (K-6) and Generation Green (Gr 7-12) program. This role is a limited term appointment for up to 20 months covering a parental leave.
Working with the Executive Director and a small team of programming staff, the Green Kids and Generation Green Coordinator is responsible for delivering our youth education programs, liaising with teachers and coordinating internal educators to schedule program delivery, administrating feedback to ensure program satisfaction and improvement, and improving and keeping programs up-to-date with relevant information and ongoing curriculum updates.
Your excellent speaking and delivery skills will provide enriching education for youth and adults of any age, and your environmental knowledge will spark curiosity and foster growth. Your organization and time management skills will keep the programs running smoothly, and your communications skills will continue to grow our client lists.
Position Duties / Responsibilities:
Administration (40%)
Manage online scheduling system and review and book program presentations
Manage data collection and provide reporting on a regular basis, including all KPI’s
Liaise with educators, parents, and community groups including sending reminder emails for bookings
Maintain program information in Monday.com
Procure and manage program supplies
Coordinate program responsibilities (program delivery, development, and special events) with program staff
Provide regular reporting to the Executive Director on the programs & their deliverables
Assist with partnerships, sponsorships, and grants related to Children & Youth programs, including reporting needs, which may require working with the ED and Fund Development staff on a regular (as needed) basis
Researching ongoing updates to the Alberta Curriculum to ensure programs meet the needs of teachers
Developing new programs/updating programs based on grants and funding gained
Program Delivery (55%)
Deliver education programs to children and youth in schools, communities, and outdoors (can involve occasionally delivering presentations during evenings and weekends)
Customize programs slightly to meet unique needs (i.e. special needs, ELL, etc.)
Hosting sessions or booths at teachers’ development events (e.g. teachers’ convention) & other environmental education workshops as requested
Host other environmental education workshops such as at the Mayor’s Environment Expo and Green Calgary special events (e.g. Waste Reduction Week, Energy Transition Fair).
Respond to inquiries from teachers and provide advice on environmental learning
Provide follow up activities and resources to support post-program learning
Hosting hands-on booths for youth and families at a variety of events through the year
Marketing (5%)
Provide website, social media, and other marketing/communications content
Correspond with educators, partners, and community groups about program offerings and opportunities via email and newsletter
Coordinate photo, video, and other opportunities to feature and promote programs
Other projects relating to community education and fulfilling the Green Calgary mission including Rain Barrel Sales and other major events
Position Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in a related field (education, environmental sciences)
2-5 years experience in a related field (environmental or education)
Preference for experience in youth education or out-of-school education programs
Relevant environmental knowledge
Knowledge of Alberta curriculum, and recent updates
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
Additional Working Requirements:
Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector check
Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
Able to lift up to 25 kg.
Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
This is a part-time limited term position covering a parental leave for up to 20 months. This position pays $44,100 per year for 37.5 hours a week. Work schedule is flexible based on event bookings with some combination of online and in-person content delivery. Work location is flexible between office and remote work. Benefits include health, dental, and health spending account available after +0 days.
