Position: Accounts Payable (AP) Head
Department: Finance & Accounts
Location: Chennai, India
Reports To: Finance Controller / Head of Finance
Experience Required: 15+ years (Head)
Education: CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) / M.Com or equivalent
(Work from Office – All 5 Days)
Job Purpose:
To lead and manage the Accounts Payable (AP) function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices, payments, and related reconciliations. Responsible for improving AP processes, internal controls, compliance, and supporting organizational financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. AP Operations Management
• Lead end-to-end accounts payable processes – invoice receipt, verification, posting, and payments.
• Monitor TAT and accuracy for invoice processing and payments.
• Ensure payments are processed in line with vendor terms and cash flow targets.
• Oversee vendor onboarding, documentation, and master data management.
2. Team Leadership & Governance
• Manage, mentor, and develop the AP team.
• Ensure resource planning and workload balancing.
• Set KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews.
3. Controls & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and SOX / audit compliance (if applicable).
• Work closely with internal and external auditors to support audits and reviews.
• Manage GST / TDS compliance in accounts payable processes.
4. Process Improvement & Automation
• Identify and drive process improvements and automation initiatives (e.g., OCR, ERP workflows, RPA).
• Collaborate with IT and vendors for systems enhancements or implementations (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
5. Stakeholder Management
• Coordinate with procurement, treasury, tax, and business units for seamless payables processing.
• Address and resolve escalations from vendors or internal stakeholders.
6. Reporting & Analysis
• Generate and analyze AP aging reports, payment forecasts, and exception reports.
• Present monthly MIS and dashboards to senior finance leadership.
