Snells Beach Kindergarten offers a responsive, interest-led programme that celebrates tamariki creativity, te ao Māori and our local coastal environment. We are deeply connected to our community and regularly participate in neighbourhood events and environmental initiatives.
Our qualified, experienced and stable team are all locals who have worked together for many years. Kaiako support tamariki emotional wellbeing through Incredible Years training and the Engage programme.
Our large outdoor environment encourages adventure, gardening and creative play, while weekly te reo Māori sessions and kapa haka strengthen our bicultural commitment. Regular excursions and much-loved events bring learning and fun to life.
The Role
We are looking for a permanent, full-time Head ECE Kaiako to lead the Snells Beach Kindergarten teaching team and daily operations. This role suits an experienced, fully registered kaiako with proven leadership capability and a commitment to high-quality teaching and learning.
You will bring an open communication style, strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach that enables a shared vision for the kindergarten. The role blends pedagogical leadership with operational management and hands-on teaching, offering variety, purpose and connection each day.
What You will Bring
5+ years’ ECE experience and a current full practising certificate
Proven relationship-building and team leadership skills
Experience in operational leadership or centre management
Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bicultural practice
A philosophy grounded in sustainability and respect for the natural environment
Confident use of ICT to enhance teaching and learning
A strong focus on inclusiveness and cultural responsiveness
Enthusiasm for play-based learning and working directly with tamariki
Everything you do will centre on supporting excellent outcomes for our tamariki.
