MECCA is looking for a Head of Design to join the Creative team, to help grow, foster and influence our creative ambitions as the world’s best beauty brand.
The Role You Could Play
Reporting into the Head of Creative as their 2IC, the Head of Design will lead a multi-disciplinary Design team, working alongside the Visual Merchandising, Content, Digital Marketing, eComm, Loyalty and Retail teams to bring to life world-class campaigns and brand experiences in a fast-paced Retail environment.
Key responsibilities and deliverables also include:
Lead a team of creatives across campaigns, brands, events, activations, new store initiatives, and various other projects, to a high-degree across all executions, in a collaborative and inspirational way that unlocks creative potential in others.
Help drive creativity and lead best-in-class campaigns and branded experiences across digital, print, OOH, social, and retail.
Facilitate and lead creative concepting work, inspiring world-class innovations and ideas that have a sharp and clear POV, as a leader within the market.
Partner with the Head of Creative to nurture, maintain and evolve a world-class brand, that grows with the business, ahead of trends and forecasts.
Oversee, review and approve design elements to a high standard across all channels.
Partner across the department to ensure business needs and creative briefs are understood and delivered upon with all concepts and designs
Develop innovative solutions for complex situations in a fast-paced environment
What You Will Bring
You will be a dynamic and creative leader and be able to inspire and lead a diverse group of designers and creatives, fostering a positive and collaborative culture. You will be a visual storyteller with expertise in bringing brand narratives to life through compelling design and campaigns across digital, print, in-store, OOH, and social channels. A strong understanding of design, campaigns, and brand strategy is essential.
Strong in problem-solving and solutions-first creative thinking, you will be adept at managing multiple projects from long-term campaigns to tactical initiatives. Working closely to support the Head of Creative, you will positively lead the team from the front, promoting a team-first culture and cross-department collaboration. Experience in leading medium-sized teams, working with varying clients and stakeholders at once, and delivering projects on time and to budget is essential.
In addition, our successful candidate will also have the following skills and experience:
10+ years of experience in building strong creative outcomes in Design or Advertising agencies or leading design/brand at like-minded brands and/or innovative companies
5+ years leading and managing designers, creatives, art-directors, with proven experience developing and growing design talent
You are highly passionate about design and creativity, and the power of creative expression and storytelling for brands, and you excel in busy, non-formulaic creative environments.
You’ve spent years selling in creative work to others – you know how to sell, and how to bring those required on the journey, and you can champion the best idea
You have a demonstrated ability to lead at a high level — from concept through to execution across all touchpoints and channels,
You’re an extremely positive, motivating leader and a great team-player, you naturally collaborate and bring others together
You have a strong desire to seek creative innovation, with market-leading ideas and outputs that are a first to MECCA.
You have a strong understanding of a Digital X Physical marketing approach, you understand the power of paid and social media, and the store environment – and how to capture creative that best suits the requirements across the broad channels.
You’re an excellent communicator – with skills and ability to accept and deliver feedback in a positive and motivating way
You have high-level design skills, with a strong grasp of the Adobe suite, Figma, etc.,
