Plan A Alberta is expanding our team, and are looking for experienced Health Care Aides to join us. This position will be a travelling position, and will require candidates to be willing to travel up to 2 hours from their location, with additional pay provided (mileage, as well as meal allowances/accommodations provided if required).

THE ROLE
As a member of our healthcare field team, the position will involve providing care to residents of our partnered homes, and providing support to the permanent staff of the homes. We have homes all across Calgary and the surrounding areas, and so opportunities may involve driving up to a maximum of 2 hours. There are additional opportunities for further travel, that may involve additional compensation.
All staff will receive MULTIPLE training opportunities prior to working independent in homes, and will participate in our Policies and Procedures session to ensure that they are aware of all the ways that Plan A offer support and guidance prior to being placed.
Reports to: The Charge Nurse of the homes, as well as Plan A Scheduler and Director of Operations
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing and other personal hygiene activities
• Assist with feeding patients
• Assist with bed transfers, lifting, turning and walking
• Assist with range of motion exercises
• Assist with simple wound care, respiratory equipment use or urinary care
• Report on patient condition to the nurse
• Assist patients to take their medications
• Communicate with patients
• Any other duties as required, providing that they are within the scope of practise.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• At least 1 year of experience working in a healthcare setting
• Must have a valid HCA Registry number, as well as being able to provide proof of education.
• Experience in Long-Term Care considered an asset
• Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check, dated from within the past 6 months.
• Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
• Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties
• Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position, e.g. lifting/transferring clients
