Job description, work day and responsibilities
YOUR DAILY MISSION: Ensure a safe and healthy workplace while keeping our environmental impacts in check.
WHO ARE WE?
We've been making kick-ass coffee for over 25 years.
We're Canada's #1 selling Whole Bean coffee. All our coffee is Organic and Fairtrade, roasted right in the Canadian Rocky Mountains smack dab in the middle of nowhere.
And it's not just our coffee that's good. We've been recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada by Great Place to Work since 2015. We work hard and have fun. That's how we roll.
WHO ARE YOU?
How do you sum up someone like you? Like a great cup of coffee, you bring a whole lotta flavour. Organized, calm, people-oriented, meticulous, and most importantly, passionate.
You know that safety is no accident and protecting the environment no small feat. You know how to develop health, safety and environmental programs that work in a collaborative and fun atmosphere. Most importantly, you know how to make these programs engaging (and that takes special talent)!
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Reporting to our Director of Quality & Safety, you will be managing Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) programming. We've got a strong safety culture, and you will make sure our practices keep up with our fast-paced growth. You will take our programs to the next level by developing and implementing systems that are aligned with the ISO 45001 and 14001 certifications. You will work alongside some incredibly kick ass people, collaborating with each department, to ensure we are compliant with all certification guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with team members and external partners to continuously improve HSE programs, ensuring alignment with ISO 45001 / 14001.
Lead risk assessments and implement control measures according to legislative and group guidelines.
Manage contractor and subcontractor activity with respect to safety programs and protocols in administrative, operational and manufacturing areas.
Be a health, safety and environment resource for company projects.
Monitor compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory, and company requirements and propose corrective actions.
Manage training needs, scheduling, coordination, and documentation for safety and environmental training in partnership with the People & Culture team.
Develop, update, and work within the overall organizational policy and guidelines to ensure a safe environment, prepare communications and attend daily operations meetings.
