Job Description
The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for compliance performance across multiple sites within the UK and the implementation of a global Health and Safety strategy. The role will be to develop, implement and continually improve health and safety strategies, policies and procedures throughout the business. The key purpose is to empower all of our managers and colleagues with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain a safe and secure environment and promote the well-being of our clients.
Key Tasks
• Ensure that all statutory and compliance risk assessments are conducted within the allocated time frame and recorded
• Highlight significant findings and recommend remedial actions
• Undertake Audits to support the strategic planning, policy development and analysis
• Identify operational risks and work with teams to respond effectively
• Implement communication strategies for Health and Safety plans
• Respond to all formal challenges and conduct the required investigation.
• Coordinate and administer health and safety training programs for all employees, ensuring records of such training are maintained and readily available
• Support the creation, distribution, and delivery of safety materials, including posters, newsletters, and toolbox talks
• Deal with miscellaneous Compliance and Health and Safety issues.
• Maintain systems, schedules and databases to ensure comprehensive compliance across all health and safety areas, including accident and incident reporting, audit results, monthly safety checks, and action plan tracking
• Produce detailed reports highlighting key metrics, incidents, and compliance status
Key Responsibilities
• Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular audits and inspections across all gym facilities
• Strategic Planning: Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety strategies aligned with company objectives and industry best practices
• Policy Development: Create and enforce health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
• Stakeholder Management: Liaise and collaborate with stakeholders both internally and externally to implement best practices for the business.
• Environment: Empower managers and colleagues with training, resources and promote a safety- conscious culture through the business
• Incident Response: Develop and maintain effective incident response protocols, conducting thorough investigations and implementing corrective actions as needed
• Emergency Procedures: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring all employees are trained and prepared to handle various emergency situations
• Data Analysis: Analyse health and safety data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance the overall safety performance
Requirements
• Qualified to NEBOSH diploma level or equivalent in both health and safety and fire risk assessment.
• At least 5 years previous experience in a health and safety manager role, ideally in the fitness or leisure industry
• Proven track record of developing and implementing health and safety strategies in a multi-site, customer facing business
• Good communication skills
• Strong IT skills
• A flexible approach will be required to work and time commitment
• Strong organisational skills
• An ability to engage with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
