We are seeking a Public Health Medicine Specialist to join our experienced and supportive team in the Te Waipounamu region. The primary purpose of this role is to provide professional leadership for the delivery of public health/population health alongside other PHMSs across the National Public Health Service (NPHS) Te Waipounamu region.

The successful candidate will undertake the statutory duties and responsibilities of a designated Medical Officer of Health or work towards designation within six months of appointment, and participate in an on-call roster. They will also provide public health medicine advice and guidance around the delivery of a cohesive, effective, and equitable health system to ensure better health outcomes for the population.

Your Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have a medical degree (MBChB or recognised equivalent), as well as a master's in public health (MPH) with a current Annual Practicing Certificate. You will also be eligible to be designated as a Medical Officer of Health and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
