Job Description
Essential Functions
• Exhibit high integrity and ethics in interactions with clients, contractors, local officials, the public, and colleagues.
• Independently manage complex GDOT roadway, bridge, and other construction projects.
• Oversee site CEI teams, including Junior Project Engineers, Office Managers, Senior Inspectors, Inspectors, CPM Reviewers, and administrative staff.
• Monitor implementation and maintenance of traffic and erosion control for projects.
• Supervise monthly estimates, final estimates, change orders/supplemental agreements, and provide claims support.
• Facilitate preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, and pre-activity sessions.
• Participate in preliminary or final field plan reviews, project scoping meetings, and staffing projections.
• Assist with miscellaneous support activities as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ten (10) or more years of experience in heavy civil/highway construction.
• Five (5) or more years of experience managing GDOT construction projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment principles and practices.
• Familiarity with GDOT manuals, policies, and procedures, including the Construction Manual.
• Adept at understanding, explaining, and administering contracts and interpreting construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications.
• Comprehension of GDOT QA/QC development and execution processes.
Preferred Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Georgia Professional Engineer or Certified Construction Manager.
• GDOT Worksite Erosion Control Supervisor (WECS) certification.
• GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
• GSWCC Level 1A certification.
