Requirements
• Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Histology Technician (HT) from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
• A minimum of eighteen months general laboratory experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Histology Technician or Histology Technologist role is a critical position that combines advanced technical skills with limited supervisory responsibilities in the preparation of tissue specimens for pathological examination.
• Receive and log specimens accurately.
• Assess the quality and appropriateness of specimens; take necessary actions under the guidance of a level II Histotech.
• Maintain organized and detailed written records.
• Conduct routine and special histology staining procedures with precision, alerting a level II Histotech of any potential issues.
• Exhibit professionalism through a collaborative attitude with peers and associated staff.
• Assist with minor histology procedures alongside other personnel, including specimen registration, disposal, filing slides, and completing necessary paperwork for consults.
