Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hotel Accountant to join our Finance team at Sydney Olympic Park. This full-time position is responsible for assisting the Precinct Finance Manager in the smooth daily operations of the Finance department, with key responsibilities across accounts payable and receivable, payroll support, cash handling, and month-end financial reporting.
You’ll work closely with key hotel departments, suppliers, and external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions, compliance with policies, and support in audit and reconciliation tasks. You'll also contribute to the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and other reports that support strategic decision-making.
This is a hands-on and collaborative role, ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in month-end processes including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and reporting
Support end-to-end payroll processing and resolve payroll queries in coordination with Talent & Culture
Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and Cashiering when team members are on leave
Process supplier invoices, assist with payment runs, and respond to supplier enquiries
Maintain accurate financial records and support internal and external audits
Uphold internal controls and compliance with company policies and legislation
Assist in onboarding finance team members and contribute to departmental training
Collaborate with multiple departments to support smooth financial operations
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, or a related discipline
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Hotel Accountant or similar role in finance
Proven experience in payroll processing and general accounting
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office Suite skills
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
