Work with a team that values collaboration and innovation.
Be part of a progressive, inclusive, and dynamic organisation
Auckland based role - with a focus on the provision of support to Auckland Airport

New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) | Te Mana Ārai o Aotearoa protects New Zealand against threats to the border. Do you want to make a positive difference to the protection of New Zealand's border from serious threats, the facilitation of legitimate trade and travel, and the collection of customs and excise revenue on behalf of the Crown?

We are seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join the People and Capability team. You will be part of a team based at Auckland Customhouse but the successful person will be required to work at Auckland Airport and the Auckland Airport Air Cargo Inspection Facility on a regular basis.

To be part of the People and Capability advisory team, we are looking for a real Go-Getter, someone that has previous experience working in an HR Generalist role and supporting people leaders in employment and disciplinary matters. Experience working in the Public sector would be an advantage. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy the challenge of providing quality and consistent advice and support to managers and employees. This is an important role, which requires a high level of relationship management. In addition, you will be confident, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and have strong attention to detail.

Some of the key duties of this role include responding to general HR inquiries on topics which include the full breadth of the employee lifecycle; advising managers on HR policies and processes; assisting both people leaders and the HR Advisory team with employment relations issues and disciplinary cases; providing quality assurance on contract and letters and supporting the wider HR Advisory team.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following…

3-4 years' experience in the management of employment and disciplinary matters.
Experience working in the Public sector would be advantageous.
Experience in a unionised working environment.
Quick to pick up new systems and be proficient at using all applications within the Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
HR qualification or similar level experience.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong and effective relationships.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
