Job role: HR Advisor

This is a fixed term contract, which is likely to last until end of January 2026.

Hours: Hours of work will be 0+:00-17:00 either 3, 4 or 5 days per week will be considered

Role Overview

Introduction to the role:

Hours of work will be 0+:00-17:00 either 3, 4 or 5 days per week will be considered

Introduction To The Team

Led by a HR Director, the HR team strive to deliver a seamless service to all Partners and employees. The team provide expert advice and support in areas such as employee relations, recruitment, learning and development, diversity and inclusion and reward.

Key Responsibilities
• Providing HR related support to employees when required
• Coaching and supporting managers to deal with employee related matters
• Management and support with a variety of ER cases, including and not limited to:
• Performance management
• Absence management
• Disciplinary
• Grievance
• Restructuring
• Redundancy
• Termination of contracts
• Making Occupational Health referrals and supporting line managers with recommendations and reasonable adjustments
• Undertaking duty of care meetings with employees
• Assisting with policy reviews and making recommendations for changes
• Production of ad-hoc reports and spreadsheets
• Production of formal paperwork and letters as required
• Involvement in any ad-hoc HR projects as required
• Collation and production of monthly payroll information for processing
• Management of records within the central HR system
• Where appropriate, involvement in wider HR team related initiatives including, but not limited to ED&I, reward, recruitment
• Where applicable you may be asked to support with HR related activities in other UK offices (Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, London, Birmingham).

What Are We Looking For

Important criteria:
• Previous generalist/operational HR experience
• Ability to proactively manage and advise management and support with formal HR related processes
• Demonstrable experience of managing an ER caseload in line with policy and best practice
• Ability to have difficult conversations when applicable
• Experience of using a HR system
• Good judgement and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with stakeholders at varying levels
• Able to operate in a busy and fast paced environment
• Be able to work under own initiative
• Be able to work as part of a team
• Flexibility in approach and willingness to work outside of normal office hours, if required.

It would be beneficial for you to have some of the following:
• Previous experience of working in a law firm or the professional services sector
• Level 5 CIPD qualification is preferred.
