HR Advisor (Workplace Relations)
Full-time | Permanent | Sydney CBD or Parramatta CBD (Hybrid work model)
At Uniting NSW.ACT, we believe in the power of people — their potential, their compassion, and their drive to make a difference. As an HR Advisor (Workplace Relations), you’ll play a key role in shaping how we support, empower, and guide our teams across the organisation.
Be part of something bigger
In this role, you’ll provide end-to-end HR and employee relations advisory support, partnering with leaders to navigate a busy and complex portfolio of workplace relations matters with confidence, empathy, and fairness. This is a fast-paced role managing a significant caseload, typically around 15–20 active workplace relations cases at any one time, requiring sound judgement, resilience, and strong prioritisation skills.
You’ll influence best practice, build leadership capability, and contribute to projects that drive continuous improvement across our People and Culture function.
This is a chance to make your mark in a large, purpose-driven organisation where HR truly matters — not just for compliance, but for creating thriving, inclusive workplaces where everyone feels supported and valued.
What you’ll do
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
Partner with leaders to manage and support performance management, conduct grievances, investigations, and dispute resolution matters from end to end, often concurrently across multiple complex cases.
Manage a high-volume and varied caseload of ER/IR matters, ensuring timely, consistent, and well-documented outcomes.
Prepare and review documentation relating to ER/IR issues, including reports and evidence-based recommendations.
Provide guidance and advice to leaders on navigating non-compensable injuries and illnesses.
Provide specialised coaching and guidance to leaders to help them navigate people challenges confidently and consistently.
Interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements, Modern Awards, legislation, and industrial instruments to ensure best practice outcomes.
About you
You’ll bring:
A minimum of 1 year demonstrated experience managing IR/ER matters in a not-for-profit or similarly complex organisation, with exposure to managing multiple cases simultaneously.
Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Sound knowledge in employment legislation, industrial instruments, and ER/IR best practices.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and delivering quality outcomes.
Excellent stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and influencing skills.
Exceptional written and verbal communication, including the ability to draft clear, accurate, and complex correspondence.
Previous experience using an online case management system.
Enquiries are welcome, please email Louise Massie at [email protected]
