We are looking for an HR Generalist. The HR Generalist will support various human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and compliance, while developing a strong understanding of HR practices and organizational goals. This role requires effective communication and problem-solving skills to enhance team collaboration and ensure a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of HR practices, policies, and processes, with a strong emphasis on accurate, timely, and compliant administrative execution.
Perform a broad range of HR administrative and operational tasks across functions such as recruitment support, employee relations administration, compliance tracking, and personnel records management.
Support a primarily unionized workforce by administering HR processes in alignment with collective bargaining agreements; prior union experience is strongly beneficial.
Serve as a primary point of contact for internal customers (employees, managers, and HR partners), delivering responsive, customer-focused HR service and resolving routine inquiries.
Provide HR administrative support across multiple states, with exposure to employment practices in the Northeast and Central regions considered a strong asset.
Utilize established guidelines, procedures, policies, and labor agreements to analyze standard situations, process transactions, and make informed recommendations.
Receive moderate guidance while demonstrating initiative in managing day-to-day administrative responsibilities, prioritizing workload, and meeting service-level expectations.
Apply expanded conceptual knowledge of HR to support consistent service delivery, operational efficiency, and organizational objectives.
Understand key business drivers and workforce dynamics and use this knowledge to support HR processes and service outcomes.
Provide informal guidance to new team members by supporting onboarding activities, explaining procedures, and reinforcing standard HR and labor-related practices.
Resolve straightforward issues by evaluating options and applying technical HR knowledge, judgment, and established precedents.
Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of personal work and contribute to team effectiveness by adhering to HR guidelines, internal controls, and documentation standards.
Clearly explain HR policies, procedures, labor-related processes, and administrative requirements to employees and stakeholders in routine situations to ensure understanding and compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Working knowledge of core HR principles, administrative processes, and employment laws; experience supporting a unionized workforce is strongly preferred.
Prior experience providing HR administrative support across multiple HR functions (e.g., recruitment support, employee relations administration, compliance).
Exposure to multi-state HR support, ideally within the Northeast and/or Central regions.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., data tracking, reporting, and analysis); proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office required.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple administrative priorities accurately and efficiently.
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain HR processes clearly to internal customers.
Customer-service mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-based, shared-services environment.
