1 year of experience in an HR department or related department
Proficient in Microsoft Suite or related software
Proficiency with HRIS, preferably ADP, or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS
Knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws
Collaborate with HR for best teammate care

Responsibilities
The HR Generalist will be a go to resource on the team and have a focus on leave administration
Along with their other responsibilities, this person will process leave requests and partner with the team regarding accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and long-term disability plans
Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules
Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave
Handles the leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave through the return to work
This includes issuing and ensuring the completion of all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave qualifications based on federal and state levels, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for leave use
Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees, their managers, and HR during leave
Oversees the return-to-work process
Facilitates other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA
Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specific legal requirements and documentation of best practices
Maintains detailed and up-to-date records of employee leave balances, usage, and accruals
Generate reports on leave usage and trends for management review
Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files
Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FLMA, ADA, and state and local laws with willingness to stay informed of changes within leave laws and expand knowledge
