THIS IS AN ANTICIPATED VACANCY

The NC Wildlife Resources Commission Mission Statement is to conserve North Carolina’s wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation. The Commission is the regulatory agency responsible for the enforcement of N.C. fishing, hunting, trapping and boating laws. The NCWRC employs 700 full-time staff across the state, including wildlife and fisheries biologists and technicians, wildlife law enforcement officers, wildlife educators, communication specialists, customer service, information technology, and administrative professionals.


The Human Resources Office is responsible for providing a full range of Human Resources services to the management and employees of the Wildlife Resources Commission. This includes elements such as Benefits, Employee Relations, EEO, Position Management, Salary Administration, Human Resources Policies, Staff Development, Recruitment, and Worker's Compensation.


The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is accepting applications for a Human Resources Technician I for our Human Resources Division. The Human Resources Technician will perform a variety of administrative, technical, and professional work for the agency’s HR office and programs.

This HR Technician is responsible for:

Administrative support to the HR team
HR assistance to employees and the public (online, in person & over the telephone)
Office management for the HR Office
Temporary employee and assignment coordination
Employment verifications
Onboarding administration
Awards/Recognition programs administration
HR data and reporting
HR purchasing and P-Card reconciliation

The schedule associated with this position is Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (40 hours/week). This position also allows for a 1-day per week telework schedule. This position has statewide responsibilities and may require occasional travel throughout the state. This position will be based out of our Wildlife Resources Commission Headquarters in Raleigh, NC (Wake County).


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must document on the application that they possess all of the following:

Experience providing administrative support in an office environment (such as managing phones, office supplies, filing systems, mail, etc.);
Experience compiling data and generating reports;
Experience providing customer service.

Management Preferences:

Knowledge of State government HR policies and procedures;
Technical proficiency in State government HR technology (to include the Integrated HR-Payroll System/Fiori/BEACON);
Experience completing new hire onboarding tasks (such as E-Verify, Background Checks, Education Verifications, ID Badges);
Experience processing temporary employee requests.
Technical proficiency in a variety of MS Office systems.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree, typically in Human Resources from an appropriately accredited institution or relevant field and no years of experience required;

OR

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
