Job Description

Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) is a community of learning grounded in scholarship and academic freedom, preparing students to be independent thinkers, ethical leaders and citizens for the common good.

CUE campus is situated on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton’s historic Highlands neighborhood. Supporting a student body of over 3,000, we are known for our small class sizes and our excellence in teaching. Our small classes and diverse student population provide an excellent opportunity for engaging with students in a sustained and nurturing way unique within the Canadian university system. CUE is an institution that values research in the sciences, social sciences, humanities and management. Our vision is to become Canada’s pre-eminent small university.

CUE is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for work, study, and living. We actively promote dignity for all, rejecting action and language that are harmful to mutual respect.

Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Recruitment, this position advises prospective students on their program selection and admission to all undergraduate and graduate programs. This position plays a key role in CUE’s achievement of enrolment targets and is accountable for conveying the benefits of a CUE education to the public.

This position’s primary responsibility is to support the university recruitment plan by traveling to and liaising with Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Yukon, and Saskatchewan high school staff and students, mature students, and other representatives within school systems, and the Indigenous community.

This position serves as an ambassador by providing information about CUE programs, services, and careers for the purpose of generating inquiries and applications via events, presentations, meetings, and information sessions facilitated on-campus, off-campus, and virtually.

Responsibilities:

Support the recruitment of Indigenous students by developing and maintaining contacts and relationships with Indigenous communities, arrange for high school and community visits, and tracking the interest of prospective students
Collaborate with kihêwak kâpimihâcik to ensure awareness of services for Indigenous students and ongoing support throughout and beyond the recruitment process
Disseminate CUE information to target markets, internal and external contacts from all services and programs within the university
Organize and deliver recruitment presentations and information booths at high schools, post-secondaries, career fairs, and other appropriate events to generate inquiries, leads, and student applications. Follow up on leads to maintain enrolment goals set by institution administration
Capture data and evaluate events to determine involvement for the following year’s event
Liaise with departments, faculty and staff within the institution regarding participation in student recruitment activities and obtaining program specific information to be used in program promotion
Respond to inquiries made in person, by phone, email or mail in an appropriate and timely manner
Provide preliminary advice on program (academic), career, funding, and student life options. Identify student needs using CUE knowledge and refer to other internal and/or external departments and services, as required
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of calendar admission criteria for all faculties and their various programs to ensure the integrity of information provided to prospective students
Plan, coordinate and implement on-campus and virtual activities such as special events (Open House, Info Night), presentations and tours
Extensive travel planning requiring logistics in advance. Travel may be within the scheduled workday or consist of overnight stays in another town/city for several nights at a time. Out of town/off-campus events require booking hotels, arranging transportation, and developing a travel schedule
Liaise with recruitment teams from other post-secondary institutions to facilitate and coordinate travel itineraries
Assist in the creation of customized promotional material packages for events and recruitment activities. Recommend, create and and/or aid in the production of internal and external resource materials: Viewbook, tri-fold cards, newsletters, marketing materials
