ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
Why this role Matters:
The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services.
About the Role:
The Salvation Army Housing Initial Assessment and Planning (IAP) service provides rapid crisis intervention and interim support to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We work to ensure access to safe, affordable accommodation and to prevent people from returning to the homelessness service system.
Operating across Victoria, specifically in the Local Government Areas of Boroondara, Manningham, and Monash, the IAP team is proud to work collaboratively with our other programs at The Salvation Army Homelessness East Metro, supporting young people, single adults, and families using a holistic, best-practice, trauma-informed and person-centred framework.
This is a permanent, full time, vacancy based in Nunawading, Melbourne. Remuneration is in line with SCHADS Level 5.

Provide interim support, including meetings, coaching, housing applications, and referrals.
Link clients into community supports and programs, particularly those with multiple and complex needs.
Work collaboratively within the broader programs to provide an integrated support response.
Attend co-location sites and complete appointments tailored to client needs.
About You:
You are passionate about making a difference for people experiencing homelessness and thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. You will also bring:
A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare, or a related field; or significant relevant experience.
Experience working with people with multiple and complex needs, demonstrating resilience, empathy, and professionalism.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
The ability to navigate services, complete housing applications, and provide tailored support.
