The Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) provides expertise to guide and support the staff at Foothills Medical Centre, Adult Addiction and Mental Health Services. The role supports Acute Adult Psychiatry In-Patient Units and Psychiatric Emergency Services which is located within the Emergency Department. The CNE provides leadership in planning, co-ordination, implementation and evaluation of educational activities for nursing staff, including orientation, compulsory educational programs, clinical development and continuing education. The CNE functions as a practitioner, consultant, researcher, educator and leader. The educator will liaise with key stakeholders, multi-disciplinary teams, and management, to support safe and optimal patient outcomes. The CNE uses evidence-based research to guide their practice. The CNE identifies knowledge gaps and participates in development and ongoing maintenance of Alberta Health Services educational programs and clinical policies and procedures. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2026. As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years ' experience working adult acute care mental health over the past 5-8 years. Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and development of adult learning programs. Baccalaureate degree in nursing required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent health related degree is an asset. Awareness of Calgary Zone Addiction and Mental Health Programs, Resources, and Practices is an asset. Prior experience as Clinical Nurse Educator. Experience working within the Psychiatric Emergency Services enhanced model.
