Department Information
Within this setting, the College of Education offers undergraduate
and graduate programs to prepare students for work in public and
private education, community agencies, and higher education. The
Department of Elementary and Special Education is committed to
preparing reflective educators who work collaboratively and
effectively with various students in public schools, informed by
current research. The Georgia Professional Standards Commission and
the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation accredit
the College of Education. The individual hired in this position is
expected to contribute to the college's goals of continued
excellence and innovation in teaching.
Job Summary
Reporting to the department chair, the Non-Tenure Track Instructor
of Elementary Education position requires a five-course workload in
fall and spring semesters, with no research or service
requirements. The position is an academic (10-month) non-tenure
track appointment. The responsibilities of this position include
supervision (practicums and clinical practice) at the undergraduate
and graduate levels and teaching additional online and face-to-face
courses in the department.
Required Qualifications
• Earned terminal degree (PhD or EdD) in Elementary Education,
Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Elementary Education
or Early Childhood Education, or a closely related field with at
least 18 graduate semester hours in Elementary Education or Early
Childhood Education by August 1, 2026.
• Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in U.S.
public school settings, teaching students in grades P-5.
• Experience supervising pre-service teacher candidates and/or
practicum students in P-5 field placements as a university or
clinical supervisor (online/face-to-face).
• Ability and willingness to teach both online and face-to-face
courses.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching face-to-face and online education courses at
the university level.
