VPS Grade 4: $+5,102 - $107,+05 plus superannuation.
This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal people, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.

About the Business Unit:

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver a major new initiative for victims of crime. The FAS is a landmark reform that replaces the judicially based Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal with an administrative scheme that prioritises the needs of victims and supports their recovery from violent crime.

The FAS represents a major leap forward in government's response to victims of crime. Established under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2026 the FAS provides financial assistance through a simple and easy to navigate process that is fair, sensitive, and responsive to victims' needs. It acknowledges the harm done and is trauma informed, inclusive, and culturally safe. The FAS has a dedicated pathway for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims of violent crime, known as the Marra Yattakunar Pathway.

About the Role:

Reporting to the FAS Senior Manager – Operations, with practice leadership from the Marra Yattakunar Assessment Manager, you will be responsible for the management of a team of specialist Intake and Triage Officers working primarily with Aboriginal victims of crime through a specialist application pathway.

Some of your duties will include:

Managing a team of FAS Intake and Triage Officers in the Marra Yattakunar Pathway, supporting and guiding them to deliver quality and consistent service, including inbound calls on the Marra Yuttakunar helpline
Acting as an initial escalation point for complex applications
Managing the daily operation of the specialist intake and triage function, including allocation of resources, management of work, communication with staff, completion of reports, and ensuring that the specialist intake and triage function meets daily service targets and functional responsibilities.
To learn more about this role before applying, please read the attached position description.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, both society and culture, and the issues impacting it
Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community
Experience operating in an intake and triage team within a complex service delivery environment
Experience working with victims of family violence, ****** assault, and victims of crime more broadly and an understanding of the systemic barriers faced by marginalised communities including Aboriginal Communities in the justice system.
Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed practice, and the ability to apply an intersectional lens in service delivery, engage in reflective practice, support and inform victims of crime, and consider lived experience in service delivery.
