Job Description
CTM Design Services Ltd. is looking to add an Intermediate Architectural Technologist to our team. The Intermediate Architectural Technologist will be responsible for preparing technical drawings, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring that design intent is accurately translated into construction documentation. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
· Under the direction of the Project Lead, develop architectural BIM models from Concept/Schematic Design through all project phases, including construction.
· Collaborate closely with the design team, Project Managers, and consultants to support design development and prepare tender and construction documents.
Conduct building and energy code analysis, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations and performance standards.
Liaise with Approving Authorities to facilitate permit applications.
Interpret and apply zoning bylaws, building codes, and energy codes, ensuring regulatory compliance under senior team guidance.
Analyze and integrate energy efficiency requirements into project documentation, including insulation, fenestration, and mechanical system coordination.
Work with the design team to resolve complex design and technical issues.
Coordinate with internal disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure proper design and model integration.
Conduct thorough reviews of architectural drawings before issuance to maintain accuracy and quality.
Develop constructible details that align with project requirements and best practices.
Perform site audits and construction inspections, including assessing compliance with energy performance requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Diploma in Architectural Technology from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 3-6 years of architectural design and drafting experience using AutoCAD and Revit (BIM).
Strong knowledge of building codes, energy codes, construction systems, engineering systems, and building materials.
Ability to interpret and apply energy code requirements in architectural design and detailing.
Experience with Building Envelope detailing and energy efficiency strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on effective collaboration.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects efficiently.
Highly detail-oriented with a strong ability to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in work.
Self-starter who takes the initiative to work through problems independently and thrives in a team environment.
Ability to work remotely when required.
Must be able to travel as needed, including site visits, audits, and client meetings.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
