SUMMARY
The Contract Administrator (CA) leads their projects in partnership with the Principal in Charge, with the mentorship of a Senior CA, to ensure projects proceed through construction smoothly, on time, and budget. They will effectively review and manage the construction administration process and provide input during the development of contract documents. They will be responsible for following the Project Lead’s teaming strategy and the project scope of work. They will utilize their expertise in assuring design and technical excellence during construction and working within a collaborative framework of the METAFOR practice.
They will inform the Principal in Charge and Project Lead of all construction-related project matters.
POSITION OVERVIEW
• Take ownership of projects during construction administration and ensure they are successful by providing value on-site and practical and cost-effective solutions for clients while demonstrating high design sensitivity.
• Direct and supervise project reports and documents such as Building Permit Forms, ABC (NBC (AE) Schedules, PCNs, COs, etc.
• Provide oversight for administrative CA support such as logging shop drawings and RFI’s.
• IDM support and coordination (schedule design reviews, QA / QC review)
• Project communication and liaison with Clients, Sub-Consultants, Contractors, and AHJ agencies.
• Review and monitor project scope and initiate corrective actions.
• Coordinate consultants’ activity during construction administration.
• May prepare contract documents.
• Determine that office sets of Contract Documents are always maintained up to date.
• Review all shop drawings and samples as required and ensure that all shop drawings, submittals, and samples are processed expeditiously.
• Conduct preconstruction meetings if required.
• Reviews manuals, guarantees, bonds and other project and post-construction submittals for approval and dispositions.
• Assembles and verifies construction contract change order information for Project Manager and Owner approval.
• Review contractor payment requests for preparation of Certificate of Payment.
• Make periodic site visits to observe the progress and character of the work; immediately inform the Project Architect/Lead of any instructions given to the Contractor; prepare a site review report.
• Assure that all modifications and drawings are reviewed and fully coordinated within the firm.
• Prepare a deficiency list.
• Assist with project summary.
CHARACTERISTICS & SKILLS
• Minimum 6+ years of progressive experience in the field.
• A diploma in Architectural Technology would be an asset.
• Experience with contract administration documents.
• Excellent organization and prioritization skills with the ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, negotiation, and leadership.
• Strong attention to detail, able to work under pressure, and multi-task.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook proficiency in Revit is considered an asset.
• Valid class 5 driver’s license.
