Position Overview:
We're seeking a talented and motivated Backend Intern to join our engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on core systems that power our sports management and performance optimization platforms. You'll gain hands-on experience with modern backend technologies and cloud computing while contributing to projects that impact the professional sports world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and maintaining Python-based backend services
- Work with Django and FastAPI/Flask to create efficient and scalable APIs
- Implement new features and optimize existing ones for performance
- Work with SQL databases to store and retrieve sports-related data efficiently
- Utilize Celery for handling background tasks and scheduled jobs
- Assist in deploying and managing applications on AWS
- Develop APIs for integrating with sports tech devices and third-party services
- Profile and optimize backend code for handling large volumes of sports data
- Write unit tests and contribute to technical documentation
Technical Requirements:
- Strong foundation in Python programming (Python 3.x)
- Knowledge of Django; experience with or willingness to learn FastAPI or Flask
- Understanding of SQL and experience with relational databases
- Familiarity with Celery for task queue management
- Experience with or strong interest in AWS services
- Proficiency with Git for collaborative development
Additional Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with Docker for containerization
- Familiarity with serverless architecture on AWS (e.g., AWS Lambda)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of GraphQL
- Experience with NoSQL databases
- Interest in sports technology and performance metrics
Education and Experience:
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Previous internship or project experience with Python backend development is a plus
- AWS certifications or experience are highly valued
