THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Irrigation Supervisor to join our Nursery team in Pakenham, VIC. This hands-on role leads and oversees irrigation and fertigation operations across the nursery to support high quality plant production. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining irrigation systems, mixing and applying fertilisers, monitoring crop performance, and supporting sustainable water management practices. The role also supports production by maintaining growing areas, including slashing grass, herbicide application, preparing sites for planting (drippers), sterilising and cleaning work areas, and managing cane canopy in root blocks.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

Supervise daily irrigation and fertigation activities across multiple nursery areas.
Oversee the operation, maintenance and repair of irrigation and climate systems.
Monitor crops and adjust irrigation programs to ensure optimal fertigation and plant health.
Lead troubleshooting and preventative maintenance activities.
Manage water usage, reporting and irrigation efficiency improvements
Develop and maintain irrigation SOPs
Supervise, train and support irrigation operators and nursery staff
Operate spraying equipment and apply pesticides in line with safety and compliance standards.
Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and company procedures.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to demonstrate capabilities in the following:

Previous experience supervising irrigation operations in a nursery, horticulture, or agricultural environment
Strong technical knowledge of operating and maintaining irrigation systems (hydraulics, pumps, controllers, and fertigation)
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve irrigation issues
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of water management and plant nutrition
Certificate III in Irrigation or equivalent (preferred)
Chemical handling Certification
Greenhouse / Glasshouse Crop Experience
Nursery Crop Experience
Strong Communication skills
A demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and fostering a positive team culture.
Valid driver’s license
Valid, unrestricted Australian working rights
