The Opportunity
The Academy seeks a skilled and responsive IT Support Specialist to manage day-to-day technology operations and provide high-quality technical support for faculty, staff, and administrative users. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this part-time position ensures that the Academy’s technology systems function reliably, securely, and efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and solutions-driven IT professional who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, systems management, and supporting a creative academic community. The role offers flexible hours, remote work, and the ability to make a direct impact on the Academy’s daily operations.
This is a part-time, on-call position (about 20 hours per week), requiring occasional onsite presence. Compensation: $35–$50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
IT Support & Troubleshooting
Respond to technology support requests promptly and professionally.
Diagnose and resolve issues with computers, laptops, printers, scanners, and other office equipment.
Address internet connectivity problems and coordinate with the provider during outages.
Replace, upgrade, and configure hardware as needed.
New Employee Setup
Create new email accounts and user profiles.
Set up Google Workspace, Zoom, DocuSign, Microsoft Office, shared drives, and internal systems.
Prepare workstations, install software, and secure passwords for new hires.
Software & Systems Management
Maintain and track all software subscriptions (Zoom, Microsoft Office, DocuSign, Calendly, Dropbox, antivirus programs, etc.).
Ensure staff have appropriate access levels within Google Workspace and shared folders.
Install, update, and manage software licenses across the organization.
Cybersecurity & Fraud Prevention
Monitor and block phishing attempts, spam, and unusual account activity.
Maintain firewalls, antivirus programs, and cybersecurity tools.
Ensure the Academy’s website remains secure, updated, and protected from vulnerabilities.
Manage password policies and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Network & Infrastructure
Maintain routers, switches, modems, phones and internal network components.
Monitor the security camera system for proper recording and functionality.
Ensure power backup systems and surge protection remain operational.
Coordinate repairs or replacements for malfunctioning technology equipment.
Website & Digital Presence
Ensure the Academy’s website stays online, secure, and updated.
Work with hosting providers or web developers when issues arise.
Data Management
Maintain backups for Google Workspace and other storage systems.
Ensure efficient digital file organization and user access.
Recover files or restore systems when needed.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain an updated inventory of all devices, user accounts, and subscriptions.
Document IT procedures, access credentials, and technology processes (stored securely).
Ensure compliance with internal IT policies and cybersecurity best practices.
Qualifications
Experience in IT support, help desk operations, or systems administration.
Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking.
Familiarity with Google Workspace, Zoom, DocuSign, Microsoft Office, and basic web systems.
Understanding of cybersecurity tools and best practices.
Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, and respond quickly to urgent issues.
Availability to work about 20 hours per week with occasional onsite visits.
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
