Job Description
As our subject matter expert, you will provide technical leadership in how we procure and contract with third party suppliers, act as Engineers Representative on in-house administered contracts, and project manage Council capital construction projects from planning through to delivery. You will compile works programmes from asset management data, undertake tender evaluations, supervise construction to ensure design requirements are met, process claims, and work across the group to develop and embed best-practice contract management policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you'll be someone who has:
At least five years' post-graduate experience in the roading and transportation industry
A degree level qualification in civil engineering or a related discipline
Extensive contract and project management experience, including managing large contracts
Strong stakeholder relationship skills, including experience working with Waka Kotahi, contractors, iwi and hapū, and community groups
A confident, constructive approach to challenging the status quo and driving continuous improvement
Most importantly, you will be technically credible, delivery-focused, and genuinely motivated to champion continuous improvement in how Council plans, procures, and delivers for the Whanganui community.
