Ambipar is a multidisciplinary firm that provides a wide range of environmental, emergency response, industrial services, marine services, and training. Opportunity exists for you to grow and learn more about these industries within Ambipar.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Our Environmental Services division is currently seeking a Junior Biologist based out of Grande Prairie, Fort St John, or surrounding areas. This role consists of regular travel for fieldwork, and those outside of this range must be willing to relocate.
RESPONSIBILITIES AT HAND / WHAT YOUR DAYS WILL CONSIST OF:
Execute biological services field and reporting scopes of work under the supervision and mentorship of the Senior Biologist
Support biological service offerings for our divisions, including permitting, habitat classification, pre-construction services, terrestrial biology, aquatic biology, wetlands, wildlife management (spill response), wildlife searches, and more
Review and ensure accurate and updated field data is collected and error-free, filed accordingly and be accountable for work completed
Maintain communication with supervisor
Adhere to direction of Senior Biologist to complete project assignments and ensure proper safety protocols are followed
Remain current with environmental legislation and regulatory updates, review updates as needed
Ensure all time and expense entries are submitted within 24 hours
Write and edit reports accurately and timely within budget for senior review
Maintain in good standing as a BIT with the Alberta Professional Society of Biologists with the goal of acquiring a P.Bio
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Land Reclamation, Agrology or equivalent with a strong focus on Biology
BIT progressing annually towards P.Bio
Experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Commitment to health, safety, and environmental requirements as required
