This role is a fixed term position in response to increased demand within our high priority work programmes. We are surging in people and resources in response to these priorities.

Mo te turanga mahi | About the role

As Programme Coordinator, you'll play a critical role in supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of this complex programme. You'll work closely with the Programme Manager and wider team to ensure we stay on track, communicate clearly, and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinating programme governance, reporting cycles, and risk/issue tracking.
Supporting development and maintenance of programme plans, schedules, and documentation.
Enabling effective workshops, steering groups, and governance forums.
Helping embed consistent processes and tools across workstreams.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys enabling others, and brings strong organisational skills to help drive delivery.

Help shape how the Ministry for the Environment works, enabling our people to do what they do best. We're modernising our HR and payroll systems and need a Programme Coordinator to keep everything running smoothly.

You'll join a collaborative, high-performing team delivering a transformational programme that will improve how we support our kaimahi, from performance management to payroll, learning, and beyond.

Proven experience in programme or project coordination, ideally in a public sector or transformation environment
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise in a dynamic setting.
Confidence in using planning and collaboration tools (e.g., Planview, MS Whiteboard, Mural)
Ability to support workshops, reporting cycles, and governance forums.
A proactive, flexible approach with a focus on enabling high-performing teams.
Experience in the New Zealand Government procurement process
Commitment to te ao Maori and growing your cultural capability.
Experience with procurement processes and vendor selection.
Desirable Skills

Familiarity with Agile delivery environments and iterative planning.
Experience supporting large-scale transformation programmes.
Knowledge of procurement processes and vendor coordination.
Ability to prepare and facilitate workshops (in-person and virtual).
Strong document management and version control practices.
Proficiency in collaboration and planning tools.
Understanding of risk and issue management frameworks.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Salary range for this role is $70,217 to $84,982 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
