Kindergarten Teacher

Maatram Education, an initiative under Reiyukai Knowledge Foundation, was founded to solve the systemic problem of schools that is rooted in their design. The schools that our children go to are not designed for them to succeed in the 21st century. That is the problem we are solving with the vision:

"Redesign schools that empower every child from underserved communities to thrive through life's challenges and live a fulfilling life."

Our model of redesign rests on three key pillars:

i) Rigour and Relevance of learning: Driving learning mainly through Project Based Learning that solves real-world problems that our students face and learning the curriculum through the projects.

ii) Students' role in learning: Leveraging students as active partners in the design for learning to create a school that operates with our students instead of for them.

iii) Time in learning: Empowering our students to be self-directed learners to that learning in the classroom is no longer teacher-dependent but student-led, where the teacher plays the role of a facilitator.

Here'sa 5 minute video that elaborates on our vision. We're starting our first Public Private Partnership School in Pune, operating from Kindergarten to Grade 2 in 2026 and adding a class every year till the school reaches full capacity, i.e., Kindergartner to Grade 10 classes on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

A teacher at Maatram Education Schools wears multiple hats to ensure an excellent education for their students. The Kindergarten teachers will be expected to be highly proficient in their work, redesign traditional school systems in alignment with the three pillars, and document best practices to share with the larger school community. The three different parts of the role are

Teach your content: 60%

Bring joy and love for learning alive in classrooms.
Design innovative and challenging annual, unit, weekly plans, lesson plans for your class that bring alive the vision of the school.
Teach subjects of your expertise (about 30 students in each class), and achieve stellar outcomes.
Daily record keeping of student artifacts through worksheets, and learning activities.
Conduct regular assessments to monitor learning and analyze data to improve classroom outcomes.
Define and lead the building of a positive and strong school culture, with a focus on learning and joy.
Collaborate with parents of the students through regular meetings to ensure their active involvement.
Leading projects in school: 30%

Work with the School Principal and Vice Principal to lead multiple projects essential to student learning (based on your talents), such as Annual Day, Sports Day, Hobby Clubs, etc.
Use these opportunities to strengthen your leadership skills, and mentor newer teachers
School Culture (10%)

Contribute to creating a strong culture of staff that translates into a high-functioning team.
Holding spaces of interest for students and staff to build an inclusive community.
Co-designing and owning pieces of staff training/upskilling to upskill the team and self.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with strong academic and holistic performance.
Bachelor's in Education (B.Ed.) degree or a Diploma in Education with strong academic and holistic performance.
1 to 2 years of experience in teaching kindergarten students.
Strong outcome orientation
Strong goal setting, planning, execution, and reflection.
Proficiency in Gsuite such as near sheet, near docs, near slides.
Proficient in English
