Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology (Professor Jon Sakata)
Position Summary:
Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments, including, behavioral and immunocytochemical experiments.
Participates in small animal handling and husbandry.
Helps maintain information about breeding colony and bird health.
Assists in recording results, performing calculations and compiling data.
Helps maintain records and files.
Helps train new lab members in laboratory techniques.
Contributes to equipment maintenance, minor repairs, and arranges for servicing.
Participates in maintaining cleanliness and safety of the work area.
Helps to ensure compliance with safety regulations in the use of equipment.
Helps to ensure proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Helps to maintain inventory, purchasing of equipment and materials.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Attention to detail .
Proficiency with Excel, Google sheets, or related.
Available on weekends.
Training in wet lab procedures (e.g., histology, tissue sectioning).
MUST BE WORK STUDY ELIGIBLE at MCGILL UNIVERSITY. Only Work Study students will be considered.
Education/Experience:
Experience working with live animals.
Background in biology, psychology, neuroscience and/or behavior.
Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4".

High School Diploma 1 Year Related Experience
