Title : Lab Technician – Technical Service Lab
Department: Technical Service
Location : Chakan, Pune
Reports To : TS Laboratory Manager

Overview
A qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. The position will be responsible to conducts laboratory tests and analyze data of Specialty Chemicals, Adhesives and Sealants. The position will be responsible for handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances and conduct tests according to internal and external demand. The goal is to optimize lab procedures and succeed in producing reliable and important results that can be used to make a difference.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Designing and executing laboratory testing of Industry & Automotive projects according Sika’s standard procedures.
• Work out of additional technical data such as weatherability, chemical resistance / compatibility, other relevant material properties.
• Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation needed for tests with minimal supervision.
• Performing product and application tests.
• Document the results of the tests in form of a test report, prepare the report in standard format.
• Operate and maintain of the lab equipments.
• Place order to Test Centre and other internal or external units for specific tests.
• Support in lab trainings (internal and external people).
• Stock management of relevant substrates, products, auxiliary materials, etc.
• Recognise irregularities, product problems, etc and communicate it properly.
• Consult with the Senior Technical colleagues regarding lab projects/activity and provide appropriate follow-up.
• Follow the activity calendar as per supervisor’s guidance.
Qualifications/Experience:
• Diploma OR Graduation /Post Graduation in Chemical/Polymer Science /Plastic technology/Mechnical/ Chemistry.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in QC / R&D / Application Test / customer support / Technical service in relevant market field of Specialty Chemicals, Paints, Adhesives and Sealants (Preferably Polyurethane / MS-SMP / Epoxy / Acrylics).
Skills & Knowledge:
• Familiarity within the Performance Chemical, Polymers, Elastomers, Adhesives, Sealant in Industrial and Automotive markets.
• This position requires attention to detail, communication and ability to perform mathematical and
scientific calculations using spreadsheet and statistical software
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Methodical and accurate documentation.
• Good analytical skills.
• Effective training skills
