Job Details
We seek a dynamic and detail-oriented Law Firm Accountant to join our team. This is a permanent, full-time position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting in a law firm environment. The Law Firm Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial health of our firm by administering accounting operations to meet legal requirements.
Responsibilities:
Oversee financial operations, including budget preparation and financial reporting.
Develop timely and accurate financial statements and reports.
Implement and ensure compliance with internal financial policies and procedures.
Prepare supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with external auditors.
Document complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, and credit control.
Review monthly results and implement variance reporting.
Manage cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
Oversee bookkeeping functions, including maintenance of the general ledger and payroll.
Develop policies to ensure secure storage of personnel and financial information.
Manage the acquisition of capital assets and record them properly.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master's degree or CPA certification preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience, ideally in a law firm or professional services firm.
Proficiency in computer programs for accounting, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and other standard business applications.
Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles, and GAAP.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent problem-solving ability.
High level of integrity and dependability, with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
Strong work ethic and ability to work extended hours during critical periods.
