Overview
Cloud Software Group BI/Data team is looking for a Sr Database Administrator. As a Sr Database Administrator, you will perform a diverse and challenging set of assignments encompassing a full range of information technology design, development, implementation, documentation, troubleshooting and maintenance work using database and related technologies
This role will focus on Windows/Linux based database systems both on premise and in the cloud. Strong cross functional and communication skills would be required to interact with numerous organizations within and outside of IT. Provide coordination in the planning, administration, monitoring, and performance optimization of databases. Perform database tasks including database creation, definition of physical and logical structures, documentation, definition of operational guidelines, and data protection. Ensure accuracy and completeness of data. Establish and maintain security and integrity controls. Formulate and monitor policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management. Propose and implement enhancements that improve the performance and reliability of database systems. Fast paced and constantly evolving environment. You will be working in a fast-paced, results-driven, collaborative environment using agile methodologies providing round the clock support.
What You'll Do
• Responsible for providing 24X7 support and maintenance for the company's mission critical MSSQL server and MYSQL databases and related applications
• Install, upgrade, maintain and performance tune databases, ensuring a high level of data availability
• Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets
• Manage security and architecture design for on premise and cloud SQL instances
• Design database and application services, write stored procedures, triggers and cloud automation scripts
• Continuously monitor and deploy qualitative improvements to alerts, monitoring, maintenance, backup/recovery, cloning techniques in use
• Perform application/SQL troubleshooting and tuning in conjunction with Microsoft Windows to investigate error correction or defect mitigation
• Build and implement operational automation and documentation for processes and procedures (creating KBs, run books, topology etc)
• Establish effective working relationships among team members and display team spirit
• Demonstrate self-development and continuously strive for learning new database technologies and skills
• Demonstrate Project planning, Project coordination, excellent communication and customer service skills
• Participate in application development life cycle to enforce standards that represent best practices within database architecture and implementation.
• Review and create Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) processes for optimal access and data manipulation methods. Execute and monitor ETL jobs in production servers.
• Implement and maintain multiple types of replications. Investigate and resolve issues associated with replication timeouts, errors, and latency.
• Implement periodic security controls. Manage database users and their appropriate level of permissions.
• Plan, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot multiple types of high availability techniques such as clustering/RAC, Always On, database mirroring, hot standby servers, Data Guard, etc.
Who You Are
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent, with ++ years of database administration and development experience
• +-14 years of experience in database development and administration of MS SQL Server environments ( 2005, 2008, 2012, 2016,2026)
• 2-3 years of experience building automation on-prem or in cloud using Python and Powershell.
• 1-2 years of experience in MYSQL, Oracle database administration with deep skills in backup and recovery techniques
• Experience performing system operational tasks in AWS or Azure
• Strong knowledge of SQL server software installation, upgrades, patching, backup & restore strategies, clustering, mirroring /replication, database shrink operations, DBCC commands and index management
• Strong Knowledge of T-SQL language and SQL Server tools (SQL Management Studio, Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SAC, SSCM, Perfmon, DMVs, system sprocs)
• Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
• Solid acquaintance with windows server, security delegation and storage components
• Microsoft SQL Server, Cloud (AWS, Azure) certification is a plus
• Working knowledge of ITL Methodologies and System Lifecycles
• Must be able to work independently and have a strong team orientation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Complex problem-solving abilities along with strong analytical and technical skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Database Certification is a plus
• Database experience in the Cloud such as Azure, AWS, GCP etc. is preferred
• SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) and Agile methodology experience preferred
