About the Role
Provide leadership to the Development Services Administration & Advisory Services teams to ensure all associated tasks relating to lodgement, public notification and generation of application consents, subdivisions, positive covenants, property address, and road and place names is of a high quality.
Monitor for changes in the planning system and policy environment and assist in understanding the implications for Bayside and implementation of changes to systems and practices in accordance with applicable legislation and Council policy is provided in a professional manner to the community.
Effectively manage Local Planning Panel related activities and functions. Efficiently maintain ePlanning operations and related procedures in accordance with relevant Legislation.
You can also expect to:
Lead, allocate, monitor, and manage the work of the teams to deliver service within expected timeframes

Maintain comprehensive, up to date, accurate and user-friendly information on Council’s website to increase awareness of Council’s policies and procedures in relation to development services
.
Lead, manage, and support the teams to check applications for completeness and to ensure timely and consistent decisions and outcomes are achieved in line with applicable legislation and Council policy
.
Manage the Bayside Local Planning Panel, including managing the panel members, organising the panel roster, overseeing the agenda, running the meeting, and compiling the minutes. Provide quality, accurate, and consistent advice to customers in response to development related enquiries and explain Council and State Government planning policies
.
Oversee the coordination of administrative services including organisation of unit resource needs, preparation of correspondence and development consents and reports, attendance recording and effective unit records management practices to meet customer needs. Oversee the coordination of the Development Control Planners’ work tasks, including reviewing place naming reports for City Planning and Environment Committee, assisting with property address applications, subdivision, and positive covenant application enquiries in accordance with relevant policies and to meet customer needs. Assist the Manager Development Services to plan for, monitor and review financial budgets to identify variations and amended forecasts

This individual will meet the following:
Relevant tertiary qualifications equivalent to Bachelor degree level and experience in a relevant field
.
Comprehensive working knowledge of planning legislation and regulations
.
Current Drivers Licence Class C
.
