Job Summary:
As a Lead GCP Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and managing data solutions on the Google Cloud Platform. Your responsibilities will include leading a team of data engineers, architects, and analysts to develop robust data pipelines, optimize data storage and retrieval processes, and ensure the integrity and security of our data infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions that drive insights and innovation.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of data engineers in designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform.
• Collaborate with data architects and analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and data models.
• Design and optimize data storage solutions, including data lakes, data warehouses, and NoSQL databases, to support large-scale data processing and analytics.
• Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Implement best practices for data processing, including data ingestion, transformation, and enrichment, using GCP services such as Dataflow, Dataprep, and BigQuery.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines and infrastructure to meet SLAs for data availability and latency.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in cloud computing, data engineering, and analytics, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach junior members of the team, providing guidance on technical skills development and career growth opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, software engineering, and business intelligence, to deliver data-driven solutions that meet business objectives.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2 years of experience designing and implementing data solutions on the Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong proficiency in GCP services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Dataproc, as well as experience with GCP IAM and security features.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and SQL query optimization.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with cloud-native development frameworks.
• Familiarity with data governance principles, regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and best practices for data security and compliance.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues and optimize data processing workflows.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Experience leading and mentoring a team of data engineers, architects, or analysts is a plus.
• Google Cloud certification (e.g., Professional Data Engineer, Associate Cloud Engineer) is preferred.
