KPMG is seeking a Lead Manager for Forward Deployed Engineering to play a pivotal role in our AI & Data Labs practice.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a team of top-tier, AI-focused full-stack engineers dedicated to rapidly building and deploying comprehensive AI systems. You will guide the technical vision and architecture for our solutions, prioritizing efficient delivery over perfection.
• Instill production excellence by defining and promoting best practices in context engineering, evaluation, and operational readiness. You will implement rigorous testing protocols to ensure high standards of secure, observable, and auditable code.
• Provide motivating hands-on leadership and mentorship, assisting engineers through complex challenges while directly contributing to project development. Create an environment of high talent density where every team member excels.
• Facilitate dynamic working sessions and engage with a variety of stakeholders, from engineers to executives, to create innovative AI systems where success is based on measurable outcomes and successful adoption.
• Drive results in a fast-paced, client-focused environment, operating in short iterative cycles with continuous feedback, ensuring that all deliverables are prepared for scalability and production readiness.
• Promote the utilization of modern development tools and techniques to enhance delivery capacity, improve quality, and accelerate outcomes.
• Maintain professionalism and integrity to contribute positively to KPMG’s respectful workplace culture.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of seven years of experience in developing and deploying secure end-to-end software systems, specifically in data, machine learning, and AI applications, with solid proficiency in cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
• A bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor high-performing technical teams, with at least three years in a hands-on leadership role, while directly engaging stakeholders for impactful results.
• Extensive practical experience with modern AI technologies and methodologies, having led teams in designing and executing advanced AI systems.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills, with a proven track record of thriving in ambiguous environments while effectively driving decisions and leading discussions with diverse audiences.
• Prepared to showcase your experience and skills through a portfolio, GitHub repository, or structured system walkthrough.
• Willingness to travel domestically as needed.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future.
