Your Role
As the Operational Risk Lead, youll strengthen risk management across the Retail Insurance Australia division by partnering with business owners to identify, assess, and manage operational risks in line with IAGs Risk Management Strategy and Framework.
Youll lead a team of Operational Risk Consultants, driving uplift in risk maturity and culture, and influencing improvements to the risk and control environment through strong engagement and clear communication. Your leadership will support risk profiling, control testing, mitigation planning, and assurance activities, ensuring effective responses to risk events and regulatory requirements.
In addition to guiding your teams work and capability development, youll oversee reporting, planning, and system updates to deliver accurate risk insights across the business. Youll also play a key role in ensuring customer interactions align with policies and processes, contributing to a culture of safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
This is a full time, 6 -month contract role and we welcome applicants from all major cities across Australia.
About You
Min 5 years experience within operational risk
Proven experience in operational risk or compliance within general insurance or financial services
Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, regulatory environments, and assurance practices
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coach others, and influence change across business units
Excellent analytical thinking with the ability to identify root causes and drive continuous improvement
Confident communicator with a consultative approach and a strong work ethic
Tertiary qualifications in economics, accounting, finance, law, or a related field (preferred)
Relevant industry certifications such as ANZIIF or AS/NZS ISO 31000 (desired)
Experience working in senior team environments and developing risk learning frameworks
Ability to collaborate effectively across business units to achieve strategic goals
