Your Role and Responsibilities
The Lead Workday HCM Consultant will manage and enhance the Illuminate experience during Workday implementations. This role coordinates with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to navigate organizations through their Workday transformations, utilizing Illuminate methodologies to align strategies, facilitate decision-making, and ensure top-quality deployments. The ideal candidate possesses extensive Workday functional knowledge, adept facilitation skills, and demonstrated experience leading strategic workshops. Key responsibilities include:
• Illuminate Delivery & Facilitation
• Lead Workday Illuminate workshops focused on Foundation, Future State, Alignment, and Design sessions.
• Drive alignment with clients on vision, guiding principles, strategic decisions, and priorities of business processes.
• Translate organizational objectives into actionable Workday design recommendations.
• Utilize Illuminate assets and tools to support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Client Engagement & Advisory
• Act as a trusted advisor to client leadership, HRIS teams, and key stakeholders.
• Clearly explain Workday capabilities and the implications of design decisions.
• Collaborate with change management teams to link process design with future-state behaviors and adoption strategies.
• Project Collaboration
• Work closely with Workday functional leads to ensure Illuminate outputs are accurately reflected in system design.
• Assist with project planning activities such as scoping, risk identification, and aligning timelines.
• Engage in cross-functional activities including testing readiness, deployment planning, and solution walkthroughs.
• Quality Assurance & Methodology
• Ensure all activities adhere to Workday delivery methodology and best practices in Illuminate.
• Maintain and refine Illuminate deliverables, documentation, and templates.
• Promote process optimization, configuration consistency, and scalable design decisions.
This role can be performed from anywhere in the US.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• 5-8+ years of experience in Workday implementations covering HCM, Talent, Compensation, or related modules.
• Proven track record in leading Workday Illuminate or comparable strategic design workshops.
• Excellent facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
• Able to convert complex business needs into Workday-aligned design recommendations.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in consulting or enterprise contexts.
• Workday HCM Certification is required.
• Experience in organizational design, HR transformation, or change management.
• Prior consulting experience in large-scale global programs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to influence decision-making.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
• Advanced knowledge of Workday modules beyond core HCM and compensation, providing a better understanding of the Workday ecosystem.
• Expertise in industry-specific compensation practices and regulations for tailored solution design.
• Experience integrating Workday with other cloud-based solutions, enabling comprehensive solution development for clients.
