About the Role
Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists? Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where education and cutting-edge research go hand in hand? We’re looking for a Lecturer in Biochemistry and Biotechnology to join our vibrant Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology — a place where innovative teaching meets impactful research.

As a Lecturer, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of students by delivering engaging lectures, tutorials (classes), workshops, and hands-on laboratory classes across biochemistry, biotechnology, and related fields. You'll also be an academic mentor, supporting students through their academic journey and beyond.

This is primarily a campus-based role, with some online teaching if required for the role. You’ll be actively involved in curriculum development, assessment, and contributing to the overall teaching excellence within the department.

Your impact won’t stop at the classroom. You’ll actively contribute to the School’s research activities — including publishing, securing funding, and building industry partnerships — while collaborating with leading academics and international researchers. You’ll also take part in the broader academic community through involvement in departmental and school-wide administration and strategic planning.

Apply now to join a university that values innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence — and become a driving force in the fields of biochemistry and biotechnology.

About You
To be suitable for this role we’re seeking someone with:

Significant experience and expertise in teaching in biochemistry, biotechnology, and at least one of: bioinformatics, molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, or data science at university level.
A track record of high-quality teaching outcomes and consistently positive student feedback.
Enthusiasm for modern teaching methods and reflective teaching practices including blended learning and teaching, on-campus, face-to-face teaching, and the use of case studies, interactive role plays, simulations and/or problem solving both in person and online.
A solid research background with published work in highly regarded academic journals and knowledge of various research methods.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect well with students, colleagues, and industry contacts.
A team player who works well with others, manages teaching teams, and helps with course development.
Experience or strong potential to attract research funding and build strong links with industry
We particularly welcome applications from early to mid-career academics, with 2 to 10 years of aligned academic experience following the completion of their PhD.

Qualifications
An earned doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline or a related field or in exceptional circumstances, equivalent professional experience. Additionally, a teaching qualification and/or membership of an appropriate professional body would be advantageous.
